Etsy Buying 1-31-08

Penny ~ The cutest little mouse arrived today. Another forum poster caught my eye and I checked out her shop http://blueshedcrafts.etsy.com/. I rarely actually look for specific items ~ I am more inclined to check out a shop and see what they have.

I picked up Penny for my daughter. I am trying to focus on small handmade toys for her and trying to get away from cheap plastic crap. This little mouse is so cute and well made, she has her own little frilly basket and a long tail. Expert service and quick shipping all the way from the UK.

I love rings- especially ones like this from http://mamamaybornedesigns.etsy.com/

"The Wave" is a unique ring made of pure silver. It's focal point is the large overlap of silver that has been carved by hand to look like multiple waves coming together. It's been oxidized to highlight these features.

I am really impressed with the uniqeness and I imagine this looks great on.

What Really Grinds My Gears 1-30-08

Yep I admit it, I am a Family Guy fan. I really can relate to some of the references from growing up. Seeing Brian chase the Chuckwagon into the cupboard brought back memories of old commercials. So I am taking a page from Peter and going to blog about *What Really Grinds My Gears*

Todays nominee is the people kitty corner from me. These people have 8 vehicles and 4 people live there- one of whom is not old enough to drive.

Why do they have so many cars? Why do they like to park them on the lawn in the summer? Why do they park them in the street so when people turn the corner they almost hit the cars.
Why are most of them not running? Why are all the cars there all day?
BREAKING NEWS ~ There are now 9 cars there!

And that is what really grinds my gears!

Freebie Wednesday

I admit it ~ I like to have giveaways :) So this week I am kicking off
*Freebie Wednesday*. Each week on Wednesdays I will be giving something away from my stash. All that is required is that you comment :)
This weeks prize is a vintage typewriter key necklace- gee I wonder how I came up with that?

What's Next

Need to get woking on another Credit Card bracelet. These are so time consuming and tedious though so I keep putting it off. Besides Hubby gets mad when I cut up his cards :)

Just Listed

Finally got this one done! Made with stamps from the 1950's in lots of different colors.
These type of pieces are hard to make. I have to open up each key and put the stamp in then clean that nasty acrylic lens then close it back up.
It would be great for a mail carrier :)

I saw this awesome pendant and adored it! Created by http://www.talisman.etsy.com/

" created by acid etching the letters onto the glass, "quilting" them under a clear piece of glass and then tack fusing at a lower temperature so the glass maintains it's original structure.

I found talisman on the forums- just goes to show you that posting in them gets you noticed :)

Oklahoma Living

I have been here about 2 and 1/2 years. I live just outside Tulsa in a small town of about 20,000. Todays post will be how in the world did I end up here? My MIL has a friend who moved to the Tulsa area- we ran into her at a party and she just ranted and raved about Oklahoma. Actually I wasn't privy to that conversation- what I got was a phone call while I was at work from my husband saying "We are moving to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma" Um ok.

Images of Indians ,TeePees, and Tornados crept into my mind.

We spent lots of time online looking at real estate. Compared to Arizona- prices were sooo much lower. I let my husband go to Oklahoma and pick out a house without me- I think he did pretty good :)

Etsy Buying

I love Etsy- who doesn't? In addition to selling I love to buy cool things there. I just snagged this vintage clock from http://www.surrenderdorothy.etsy.com/ AKA Her Royal majesty Bags.

It is certainly a throwback to yesterday. Now clocks are made with crappy electronic parts that fall apart quickly. This is going to look great in my house. Thanks V :)

Inspired by Grandma

My mom was a single mom so I spent a lot of time with my grandparents.

One of my fondest memories of granma is that she taught me how to eat a grapefruit. She always put salt on it so I do as well. I was looking at a spoon and thinking of her and voila.

A blend of a spoon and a typewriter key!

Welcome 2008

So I am a bit behind- what's new?

The holiday season was a blessing- I was featured in Cosmo Girl with my Traffic Light Necklace. I was working nonstop!

We also had a huge ice storm here and had no power for 7 days.
