Work Perk and A Winner

Did I mention I Love my job? Well, I do! I work in Tulsa at The Vintage Pearl
I am so grateful to my wonderful boss who offered me a position and to the many friends I have made already.
Today I picked out a necklace to remind me of my kids (they aren't hard to remember but now they are with me all the time in spirit)
I chose the Eclectic Necklace and added some copper shapes into the mix. I LOVE IT!! I really love jewelry- really I do- but I rarely wear it however, I will be wearing this every day as it is just too cool!. The girls at work are so talented and I can't say enough good about them.

On to our winner of Hello Crafty's Halloween Soap:

Halloween Soap Giveaway from Hello Crafty

I was trying to come up with a fun Halloween giveaway when I remembered my friend
Hello Crafty had this awesome skull soap.
Life is full of people who come and go in your life, Some make an impression and others do not. I am happy to say that Hello Crafty has made an impression on me. I can't remember which soap I bought first from her but I loved it. I think it might have been Nag Champa? or was it Green Grass or Beach Days? I love the excitement of opening one of of packages and inhaling the goodness.
HC isn't just someone who throws some craft store ingredients into a mold. She is a true soap maker and it shows and she always seems to come up with amazing smells and designs. My daughter (who is 7) is a fan already. She wants to know if the soap can be taped to her face so she can smell it all day.

HC went on a hiatus a while back and I was sad and missed her. When we spoke she imparted words of wisdom about what was really important in life and her experience got me to do some thinking and make some changes myself. Though we haven't met I consider her a friend which is a rare thing these days.

Now on to the fun stuff!!
If you would like to win this awesome Skull Soap just leave a comment.
For extra entries visit Hello Crafty's shop and let me know your favorite item
Become a fan on FaceBook
Tweet about it and mention you did.
Winner will be chosen Sunday the 24th.

Featured Seller ~ Meluseena

I found the Etsy Seller meluseena
after she posted on the forums. I love her work! Meluseena is the Etsy shop of Lisa Falzon a writer and illustrator.

A little bit about her....
I am 25 years old, I'm Maltese living in Cork, Ireland. I'm a writer and illustrator, working primarily in the digital medium. I've done children's books, CD covers, banners for buses. The whole shebang.

I used to have solo exhibitions and be in group shows, but I have discovered that getting rid of the pretention of it all and selling art directly to buyers all over the world is much more satisfactory :)

I had a hard time picking faves as I love all her work! Right now she offers Free Shipping on most items so stop by her shop and have a look. You won't be disappointed!

Featured Seller

I am quite smitten with the Etsy Shop Buy My Crap for a few reasons. The first being that Buy My Crap is the other half of The Naked Mushroom whom I adore.

Second the name BUY MY CRAP is pure genius!! I find humor very appealing and besides I like the items for sale. Resin rings in mouth watering colors. I have never really though about a resin ring before but I love the patterns and colors.

Even something for the Twilight crowd!

Goodies in the mail

The mailman delivered 2 little packages but they were outstanding!
First off these hilarious cards from ScotiaMade I got cute mini notes to tuck in a lunch box or as a surprise anywhere but the BEST part was the surprise she added for being her 500th sale.
The mini notes features squirrels saying funny things- her shop says * You will laugh till you wee* and I found this to be true- I even tested them on my neighbor and she was laughing as well.

The surprise notes were for people that SUCK when they park. You know the type- hogging 2 spaces, parking right next to the corner, general rudeness. I am dying to get out and find and asshat to use them on. If you have read my posts about * What really grinds my gears* you will know my neighbors are perfect candidates for these!
Next package was from ThreeDogParty A Set of 4 hand-stamped postcards featuring a typewriter with wings- how appropriate for me! I quickly ordered some stamps for postcards and can't wait to send these out. Sometimes it seems it is all about email these days.

Business Cards and Promos

Got my adorable Promos from Promos In A Snap yesterday. You choose if you would like the cards to be horizontal or vertical. The size of the card is 2 1/2 inches by 4. And there is a scratch off part that can say whatever you want.

Also tinkered with my business cards. I liked the idea of the moo cards but they are too small so I came up with some doubled sided ones of my own that are full size.

Getting to the top of Google Search

My Etsy Shop is number 1 on the Google Search for Vintage Typewriter Key Bracelet-Yay!
How it got there I have no idea but I have some observations.
Using good Flickr Titles has helped my obtain front page status.
Flickr and Etsy items of mine are ahead of my OS Commerce site for some reason.
My Ebay store I don't see- I am not very active on it though.
I am wondering if rankings have to do with activity at all?
Etsy and Flickr I use heavily so my theory would be supported.

Customer Appreciation Picture

One of the features I haven't used much on Etsy but I got on the ball about it this weekend.
A few buyers have used it to send me a picture of them wearing the jewelry I made- that was cool.
I used it for a DIY kit I bought of a sock money to show her our completed project.
Being that I work with typewriters this picture seemed perfect!

Here are some more items.....

It was nice to see a new feature rolled out on Etsy this past week. Sold items now show items from the seller that are available. I like this feature! If you want to see what your sold items look like you must be logged out to view your own shop.

The Twilight Zone

My 15 year old daughter has been reading the Twilight books and is a big fan.
She used my lap top and promptly set the screen to her liking.
I knew to look no further than Etsy for a piece of Twilight jewelry for her and picked this up from bethtastic.
I know she will love it.

Etsy Buying

I love Etsy- who doesn't? In addition to selling I love to buy cool things there. I just snagged this vintage clock from http://www.surrenderdorothy.etsy.com/ AKA Her Royal majesty Bags.
It is certainly a throwback to yesterday. Now clocks are made with crappy electronic parts that fall apart quickly. This is going to look great in my house. Thanks V :)
